Wobito Gems History
Brothers Ralph and Rudi Wobito are third generation Master Gem Cutters who inherited a passion and talent for precision faceting and gemstone artistry. Their grandfather and father were Master Gem Cutters who operated a gem cutting business in the renowned German cutting centre of Idar-Oberstein. Now based in the community of Stouffville, Ontario, just north of Toronto, the Wobito cutting studio continues the tradition of producing master crafted gemstones with the tell-tale precision of its Idar-Oberstein roots.
The Wobito Snowflake™ Story
The Wobito Snowflake™ Cut came to be one evening late in 1996. Ralph Wobito was working in our studio trying to develop new designs. Starting with a basic hexagon shape, he paused to contemplate his next steps, and happened to glance out the window at the gently falling snow. A few meticulous hours latter, the Snowflake cut was born.
The Wobito Snowflake™ Cut was eventually patented in 2005. It is suitable for almost all varieties of gemstone, including Diamonds. Below are some examples of this amazing cut.
